Description

Here is a great manual for the vintage radio buff.  This is a current reprint of the original 1939 Hammarlund manual.  It is slightly smaller than the original and is 5 1/2" by 8 1/2" in size. It contains all the information that was in the original.  It says that this manual "is devoted to the amateur experimenter and short wave listener".  It has 32 pages and includes instructions on how to build 11 radio projects for receivers, transmitters and power supplies. It also has a two pages of short wave station frequencies that one could listen to in 1939, just prior to the onset of WW2.The  build projects include the following items:  The Metal Tube Two (a 6J7 regenerative detector receiver),  a 3 tube band spread AC set,  a two stage pre-selector, a Short Wave Converter, a Receiver Power Supply,  a 5 Meter MOPA, a 5 meter Super Het, a 6L6 Transmitter for the Beginner, a 25 watt Buffer-Doubler,  a 140 Watt Final Amplifier, and a Transmitter Power Supply. And the last neat thing in the manual is the center section. It is a detailed list of many of the components being offered by Hammarlund to the Ham community.  We have all seen those beautiful Hammarlund variable capacitors that are still around  today and still useful after all these years.  Hammarlund chose to print the circuit diagrams in an unusual way. They used a black background with white lines.  We have optimized the contrast in this reprint to make the circuit diagrams as clear as possible.  Because of this, the photos, while very usable for guidance in constructing each item, are not as high a quality as in the original manual.  Shipping on this 32 page manual is $2.00 in the USA and $2.50 to Canada.
